EdPam to get hospital equipment from US

Sep 08, 2010

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan is expected to go to the United States today (Wednesday) to receive various hospital equipment that include 15 dialysis machines from the World Medical Relief which is based in Detroit, Michigan.

“It’s about time that we provide sufficient medical supplies and equipments for our less fortunate kabalens.  A single session using dialysis machine cost about P2,800 to P5,000 nowadays and I think a patient need to undergo the procedure at least twice a week,” the mayor said.

Dialysis machines are used for patients with kidney problems in which the machine filters the blood to remove excess water and unwanted products.

In addition to the hospital equipments to be acquired by the mayor, Pamintuan would also distribute more PhilHealth cards to Angeleños.

“I would like to see that at least 80 percent of Angelenos are PhilHealth card holders”, the mayor said.

The officers and staff of Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA) hosted the flag-raising ceremony in city hall on Monday.

ONA Director Antonio Dizon said “ONA will try to pursue its dream of becoming a tertiary hospital from a secondary medical care provider.”

“With the support that we are getting from our local government, we are also aiming now to become a Training Hospital. This will not only boost local employment but also maximize our health care program”, Dizon said during his speech.

Pamintuan promptly congratulated the ONA director for his efforts in restructuring the local hospital.

While on leave for about eleven days, Pamintuan has designated Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting as acting mayor, and Councilor Jericho Aguas as acting Vice Mayor starting today.

“Even while I’m gone, I hope the officials will continue to rid the sidewalks with illegal vendors, and keep the peripheral roads in Apu clear,” Pamintuan said.

He also stressed his concern about the Sapang Balen as he would not like to see the creek with murky waters.

“Bishop Ambo texted me regarding the continuous monitoring in the slaughterhouse,” Pamintuan said referring to Auxiliary Bishop Pablo Virgilio David who initiated the Sagip Sapang Balen project.
